There are Angels Walking Among Us

There has been a bit of drama going on this past week. On Sunday I received an email from our neighborhood listserv from a woman that lives in the area and volunteers at the Montgomery County Humane Society (MCHS). She posted that she found an older, gray, blind (eyes removed) cat wandering around a section of my town. She brought it to the MCHS where everyone immediately fell in love with her. A regular purr machine she would gladly be picked up and cuddled by anyone.

I've been heartsick all week thinking about this poor animal helplessly and blindly wandering around town. I asked for updates while secretly wondering if I could take this cat in if no one claimed her.

When I got home from work tonight I had an email. They located the cat's owners!! They have been frantically looking for her but since the MCHS is so far away from our area they didn't think of calling them. I am relieved on SO many levels!

Here she is. Doesn't she look like a female Greybeard?? If she only knew she was a cat's whisker away from coming to live at Possumlady Place! Whew! I'll finally be able to sleep well tonight.

Yes, there are angels walking among us that were looking out for this old girl.

Poor, poor kitty, blind and lost. It makes my heart ache. I'm so glad her people found her. They must have been frantic with worry.
You're right- there ARE angels walking among us.

Aww--this is a double happy ending. The owners found their cat, the cat found her owners.
And it was nice for you to be ready to step in, an angel yourself.
Yes, she does look like Greybeard.

Hello! What a lucky-lucky kitten. She was lucky that her angels were walking with her while lost. That her and her family are now reunited. But if her family didn't find her, she would have another angel in you. I love happy endings.

She does very much looks like Greybeard. Lisa

Whew! Poor little thing! So glad that her people were able to find her. She must have really tugged at your heart, looking so much like Greybeard!

Having volunteered at different shelters throughout my life I know only too well the miniscule percentage of lost cats that are returned to their owners.

The vet who looked her over when she was brought into the shelter said that she was very well taken care of and obviously a much loved member of someone's family. Apparently someone in the family's neighborhood got hold of an email and let the family know. There was much crying all around when they picked her up. Yes, Lisa, happy endings are needed now and then.

Hey Possumlady,

I enjoyed reading your post about Apu--the mysteries of animal behavior. Also, so glad there was a happy ending for the ghost of Greybeard. Your recent weather sounds nice; wish we had some of that around here. Cat59

And I left a comment to you on my blog about the Kodak. Research first. My Kodak Z612 is great but the newer ones don't have great reviews. Do some research first. I think you can still buy the Z612!

I'm so thankful the lady called the MCHS instead of ignoring the sweet kittycat.
A happy ending puts a smile on our face!

Hey Cat59! Looks like our good weather streak is at an end with 90s today and humidity back up to swamp levels! "Ghost of Greybeard" YES! It actually kind of spooked me when I saw her photo.

Welcome Kathleen! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Come on back anytime.

Also welcome Maggie May! Love your blog--Cats, Goats and Quotes indeed! I've always wanted to have a little space to have me some goats.

Mary, LOVED your email! The sad thing is that it is really not far from the truth. I can't tell you how many expensive cat pills I've thrown out due to sogginess of being tossed in and promptly spit out from my cats mouths time and time again. It truly is a battle of the wills and usually the cats' will last longer then mine.

Also have been checking reviews of different point and shoot cameras and am getting frustrated at all the different ones and their ratings!!

What a happy ending, thank the Lord, do you know why her eyes were removed?

Hi Margaret and thanks for visiting. No, I have no idea why her eyes are missing. I've heard of it though when a cat has severe chronic eye infections and it either leaves them blind or almost blind, a vet will suggest removal of the eyes which will stop the chronic infections and pain. There may be other reasons but I don't know.
